2nd Design Proposal

the main square is paved in 470,000 ochre-coloured sandstone blocks from Western Australia[13] and invokes images of the Outback. The paving is designed as a huge urban artwork, called Nearamnew, by Paul Carter and gently rises above street level, containing a number of textual pieces inlaid in its undulating surface.

Design Proposal:

  • adding suspended light by metal wire, inspired by Federation Square public space
  • OR, suspended recycled umbrella above courtyard space (the unused umbrella could be transformed into an art piece by Indigenous artist)

As a result of that transformation, the whole courtyard space could turn into 'sanctuary' courtyard space for the patients at Monash Medical centre.
